Alabama Therapeutic Education Facility
December, 3 2008
The Department of Corrections ReEntry Personal and the CPR Team were welcomed to tour the new (March 2008) Alabama Therapeutic Education Facility in Columbiana, AL. Keynote speakers were Elana M. Parker, Reentry Coordinator/Public Health Liaison, Dr. Donna Sewell, Deputy Director of Treatment, Vickie Locke and Ken Burroughs, CPR Network, and Lee Gunn, Residential Facilities Division Director Alabama Board of Pardons and Parole. Richard Allen, Commissioner, and Terry MacDonald, Associate Commissioner, were present to thank various ReEntry Departments around the state for two years of hard work that has shaped the Governor's Initiative. The CPR team thanks everyone for their hospitality and anticipates many more connections through the Network as a result of this meeting. |

Marshall County Meeting
November 24, 2008
A meeting for Marshall county was held Nov. 24th in Guntersville. Jim Elliott, the county rep, invited people that are ready to work with us, already work well with each other and have two transition homes in operation. David Battle, Co-Chair for Region 5, and Ken Burroughs, manager of Special Projects, attended with 25 others. Concerns about Mental Health Certification were discussed in a round table format. The two homes sought advice about funding problems. The Partnership aspect in the CPR network was emphasized with attention given to resource allocation. Many thanks to Jim and Sandra for putting on such a successful meeting! |

Covington County Meeting
November 21, 2008
Approximately 35 people attended the 1st meeting of the Covington County CPR Network on Nov 21st at the Covington County Commission Chambers. Capt. Preston Hughes, chair for Covington County welcomed the group and Jimmy Lester of the CPR Network provided the group with the details of CPR. We were very encouraged by the attendance and interest in the program, as evidenced by a productive question and answer session. Judge Ashley McKathan closed the meeting with prayer. Sincere thanks to Capt Hughes for a great meeting. |
